In the cucumber/squash/gourd family, Luffas are excellent multi-taskers. The fruit are like a cross between a cucumber and zucchini when harvested young and are widely used in South and East Asian cuisines. When grown to maturity, the fruit are fibrous and can be dried to use as scrubbing sponges.
